Hello hello and welcome back to another episode of the Home Sweet Homemaking podcast. If it's your first time, hello and welcome I am so happy that you're joining us today. Today I want to talk about our Expectations and our Temptations; Why? well because we all have them and depending on how we set up our expectations in our mind and what kinds of temptations that is in our lives it can cause us a lot of stress, disappointment and failure ultimately, but luckily we are not alone in our struggle, God understands us 100% in our "humanity". He not only understands but he offers us an escape from our temptations and he will guide our steps in the midst of our high expectations that can cause us to "drift" from where God actually needs us to be. Today I want to focus on these two things to help us bring clarity and comfort to our struggles.
Expectations scriptures
Proverbs 16:9: The heart of men plans his way but the Lord establishes his steps. (ESV)
(NLT) Within your heart, you can make plans for your future, but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there.
Psalm 37:5&23: (NLT) commit everything you do to the Lord trust him and he will help you.
Psalm 37:23: (NLT) The Lord directs the steps of the godly He delights in every detail of their lives.
Temptations scriptures
Matthew 24:44: Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak (ESV)
(NLT) Keep alert and pray that you’ll be spared from this time of testing. Your Spirit is eager enough but your humanity is weak.
1 Corinthians 10:13: No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Matthew 6;24: No one can serve two masters for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Tips
• Pray
• Start training your mind not to expect anything its hard but its possible
• Know what your temptations are, sit down write them out and see what they are
• Don’t be ashamed or feel guilty (NLT Matthew 26:44) “humanity” we are all human and this happens we are tempted with all of these things.
• Trust Him with every outcome and temptation in your life because then you’ll know both times you’ll be getting the most perfect plan in your life. No matter what
