When you read through Jonah, it's easy to get annoyed at this messy, insolent prophet.  However, if we look closer we'll see a lot of our own short comings (sin) in his life.  We can be encouraged that if God can use someone like Jonah, then God can surely use us.

Today, as we look at what not to do as evidenced in the life of Jonah, Pastor Rich will discuss the dangers of self righteousness, how to recognize it and what to do about it.

Jonah 1

"I pity the fool."  A popular TV show from the 80's had a character that said this phrase often.  Today, we'll examine Proverbs 26 which teaches us how not to be a fool, as well as how to interact with those who behave foolishly.  Also, Pastor Rich will show from Proverbs how to fight our human tendencies to be lazy and meddle in affairs that we shouldn't.    

Proverbs 26

The main focus of the book of Proverbs is gaining wisdom.  Beginning at chapter 10, each chapter in Proverbs contains a smattering of these wisdom "nuggets" flowing from one to the next.  Today, Pastor Rich will examine chapter 17, dealing with issues such as our hearts, trials and hardships, gossip, conflict resolution, being easily offended, who to rebuke, who to ignore, and having joy.

Proverbs 17

One of the most common questions you must answer as an adult for the rest of your life is "What's for dinner?"  This question is not as simple as it may seem.  What and where we eat on a regular basis determines the trajectory of your life, so we need to make wise choices.  You might have ice cream for dinner once or twice, but if you have ice cream for dinner every night, you will compromise your health and nutrition.

As we look at Proverbs 9, we're given two choices for dinner, the house of Lady Wisdom, or the house of Lady Folly.  Through this passage we will see how our choices affect our lives both now and in the future.  

What does it mean to have a happy, or blessed new year?  In our passage today, we'll see that the key to having a happier or blessed life this year is growing in wisdom.  

Proverbs 3:13-26

"Are you working hard or hardly working?"  This common greeting in the workplace can be applied to our Christian lives.  Some of us work ourselves so hard that there's little room for God.  Others work really hard trying to get out of work.  God calls us to honor Him with our lives, while not putting our careers ahead of Him or our families.  Today, Pastor Rich will show us how to balance hard work and honoring God.

Psalm 127:1-2, Proverbs 18:9-10 

The message of Christmas is a message of good news of great joy to all people.  Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords came to earth as a humble, human baby to provide forgiveness of sin.  The question we must ask is what will our response be?  

Luke 2:1-21

Who were the wisemen?  How did they connect a bright star with a future king of Israel?  When did they arrive in Bethlehem?  What happened when they arrived?  Today Pastor Chris Horrell will tell the Christmas story through the eyes of the wisemen.

Matthew 2:1-12

What was it like for Joseph?  What was going through his mind when Mary broke the miraculous news to him?  How did he respond?  Today Pastor Rich will show the Christmas story from Joseph's point of view.

Matthew 1:18-25

What did Mary know?  Today we will look at the Christmas story through Mary's eyes.  We'll see and be challenged to have faith and obedience like she did.
