Scripture: Colossians 2:16-3:10, Should Christians bring judgement on each other for food and drink, or the celebration of days such as the Sabbath? Further, what about the worship of angels, or people with visions? Paul warns against such things, and tells us to "seek things that are of Christ who is all in all." In Chapter 3, Paul encourages us to put on a "new self," lifting each other with love and forgiveness as Christ has forgiven us.

Scripture: Luke 11:37-12:12, Seven woes to the Pharisees and Lawyers are itemized by Jesus. Woe is the opposite of blessed. These woes make the point that we must be clean on the inside and merciful and loving to our neighbor.The leaven of the Pharisees is hypocrisy. Jesus says everything covered up will be revealed by the light and we are to fear Him who has authority to cast you into hell

Scripture: Colossians 2:1-15, In this study of Colossians, Paul warns all believers to beware of empty deceit that does not belong to the teachings of Christ.Philosophical arguments against the faith come to us from all directions. Who of us, like the believers in Colossus, aren't bombarded with the wisdom of human traditionthat try to tear down our belief? Scripture: Luke 11:5-44, Jesus teaches us to be persistent, shameless and audacious -- even impudent in prayer -- even though we don't have the right. Moreover, God will not give you what is harmful. We have to trust that what God gives us is good, even if it does not look good. His gift of the Holy Spirit is the best gift of all.

Scripture: Colossians 1:15-29, As we continue in Colossians we are reminded by Paul that all things were created by the Son, that is Christ, or the Word made flesh. We know it is Christ who reconciles us to God, and indeed it must be the Word of God, that is Christ, which holds all things together. It is our faith in Christ, and in His death and resurrection that mark us as beyond reproach.

Scripture: Luke 11:1-13 Genesis 1:26-27 Genesis 5:1-3 Matthew 18:15-21, Chapter 11's theme is prayer-- what should we pray? Jesus teaches us to pray here from a position of us being God's baptized children. Each element of the Lord's Prayer is covered in depth.

Scripture: Colossians 1:1-17, While we lost the image of God with the fall, we put on the image of God once more throughChrist in our baptism. We have been delivered from darkness to light, and will be strengthened with all power for endurance and patience. A timely message as we begin Colossians.

Scripture: Luke10:25-42, The wise in this world are too smart for Jesus! Their wisdom is a tool of their unbelief. What is hidden to them is they don't see the call to belief because this would contradict how the world perceives them. The wise ask: "Am I sure I want to trade in my wisdom for Jesus and the Gospel?" This study concludes by examining the deeper meaning of the parable of the Good Samaritan where the lawyer tests (assaults) Jesus by asking "what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

Scripture: Romans 15:14-16:27, In these concluding two chapters of Romans, Paul speaks of his ministry. He explains that he must go where the gospel had not already been preached. He warns the believers to avoid false doctrine. We are to avoid, "teachers, that by smooth talk and flattery, deceive the hearts of the naïve." Good advice for Christians today.
