Rosie Awori is a Kenyan mixed media artist and author based in Montreal, Canada who is following Jesus into the journalism sphere. She has a heart to tell authentic stories using digital art and words in the form of poetry and fiction. Rosie's first book, It is Written features her first collection of poetry and she is currently working on her second book. She has written for publications such as Quiet Women Co Sister’s Bold Pursuit Devotion by Morgan Harper Nichols and has a proficiency in scriptwriting for film and TV.

In this episode, Rosie and I talk about her journey in journalism and creative writing. We also talk about changing career paths to pursue God’s call, using the talents God’s given you, navigating insecurity, imposter syndrome and comparison. Lydia Alabach has developed a strong passion for restoring and empowering women through strategic spiritual warfare, education, and self-defense courses. As a high schooler, she knew she was called to ministry but was very surprised when the Lord called her to education. At Oral Roberts University, Lydia discovered the powerful partnership between vocation and ministry and began walking in her calling as an educator with the mission of healing, restoration, and empowerment. After two years of teaching elementary school, the Lord called her to Colorado Springs where she now equips women with strategic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu self-defense courses focusing on the physical and psychological defenses against known and unknown attackers, and she continues her education practice through brain training and in-home tutoring. For fun, Lydia enjoys investing time with her close communities, going on outdoor expeditions, and experimenting with healthy recipes!

In this blog bite, we’re focusing on the call Jesus gave His followers to persist and on having stubborn hope in the midst of unanswered prayer based on the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18.

The test in persistence is time. Hope deferred makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13). Unanswered prayers make us cynical and skeptical and we experience a hardening of heart. In spite of what we may see, we are to pray and not give up praying.

• Persistence looks like continuing to call on the name of God despite the difficulty of the present or the weight of the past.
•  It looks like continuing to seek God on a matter past the usual time - even when the miracle hasn't manifested in the timeline we overtly or unconsciously gave God. 
• It means choosing to apply God's truth again to the places that currently taunt and torment us and silence our prayers for a breakthrough.
