As Jesus neared Jerusalem to die, large crowds assumed His earthly reign would soon begin. So by story, Jesus warned them that He would leave for an extended time. But upon return, He would review the investment choices of His followers, their obedience with what He had left them, and ultimately judge who was His foe, who was a fake, and who was found faithful.
