In Christian culture, we sometimes find ourselves using words or catch phrases that "sound spiritual" but are not necessarily biblical. Emily and Alyssa tackle some of these often misplaced phrases in this series titled, "Did God Really Say...?"
In today's episode we tackle the phrase "Did God really say He won't give me more than I can handle?"
Is the phrase "God won't give me more than I can handle" even found in scripture? What is the context?
"No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]." 1 Corinthians 10:13 (Amplified Version)
Do we see examples in Scripture of people who were given more than they could handle?
“God will give you all the grace you need in every situation you face.”
