Matthew 10:34-42

13th Sunday of ordinary time, year A.

In another heavy reading Jesus talks to us about the path of discipleship which will lead to suffering and rejection by those closest to us.

There is also a message of hope, in that whatever we are able to do, be it big or small, we are not condemned but affirmed.

Jesus continues his pep talk to the disciples before they're sent out on mission.

He warns them about the brutal punishment the world inflicts on those who oppose oppressive empire.
