The book of Jonah is a part of the Old Testament of the Bible and it tells the story of the prophet Jonah, who is called by God to go to the city of Nineveh and prophesy against it, but instead tries to flee by sea, only to be thrown overboard and swallowed by a giant fish, before being spit out on the shore, where he eventually goes to Nineveh and successfully delivers God's message. The book is often seen as a story of God's mercy and the willingness of Jonah to obey God's commands.
