After two thrilling comebacks in games one and two, the 1980 series moves on to Kansas City with the Phillies maintaining home-field advantage. This is the first ever World Series game to be played in Kansas City, and thankfully the Royals will have superstar third baseman George Brett back in the lineup after he departed game two early with a hemorrhoid issue. Manager Jim Frey sends big righty Rich Gale (13 - 9 3.92 ERA 190 IP) to the hill, looking to avoid a dreaded 0 - 3 series deficit. The Phillies counter with veteran righty Dick Ruthven (17 - 10 3.55 ERA 223 IP), who has been excellent in this postseason so far, allowing only two runs in 9 innings pitched between two games. Perhaps most important to the Phils and manager Dallas Green was Mike Schmidt's go-ahead double in game two, which has seemingly broke him out of his postseason slump to this point. A win in tonight's game would all but lock up this series for Philadelphia, and KC is all too aware of that fact. Who will come out on top? Tune in to this back and forth battle.
