This week Paul enters into a prickly and uncomfortable conversation about giving. As it turns out, the church at Corinth had committed to give financial support to the mother church in Jerusalem. About a year had gone by and their promised gift was yet to be given. In response, Paul writes chapters 8 and 9. In them, he lays out the foundational principles for giving that are to guide Jesus followers from now until Jesus comes back. What are they? Let me encourage you to read these two chapters very carefully in preparation for a conversation this Sunday. I think you just might be surprised.
