Members Reviews:
Falling Angels Delivers!
I wasn't really expecting this to be as good as it was! I read the previous reviews before getting this book and recall one of them saying they were fans of James Patterson and loving this book as well.
That intrigued me because Patterson is a fantastic writer. I gave this a chance (admittedly, starting out skeptical of that claim) and I'm glad I did and concur that mystery writer, Melissa M. Garcia is on the same level in her own way.
Her chapters are longer than Patterson's trade mark shorts ones, but her ability to keep you wondering what is going to happen next is on the same plane! It starts with a kid from the wrong side of the tracks becoming the protector of a very rich little girl. Which initially might seem like a weak story line, but the detail, the description of the relationship, and the characters themselves are all not only interesting, but very realistic!
And if you're expecting a "boy in love with girl story he can't have or doesn't deserve", you would be doing yourself a disservice, if you think that will make this an uninteresting read.
Various things are dealt with from police brutality, murder, good lawyers (and bad ones), drugs, gangs and the lives that some people are not only born into, but are fortunate if they survive, and how that life shapes the minds of those exposed to it (sometimes) in different ways.
Luc is what I would call an anti hero.
