T'neet! Remember a few weeks ago I asked what the best Fall drum tracks were? No? Alright, whatever. Anyway, I had a plan! Find out what the best ten Fall drum tracks were and then get Paul Hanley to come on and talk about them!! One of those things was easier than the other.
It was a delight to objectively once and for all to define what the best Fall drum tracks are. If you don't know, then listen to this to find out, because now it's been decided and WE CAN NEVER CHANGE OUR MINDS!!
Many thanks to Mr Paul Hanley. Go and buy his damn book! Buy all his books, they are great. https://www.route-online.com/blog/post/paul-hanley
And I promise we still do the showdown competition...suddenly, certainly..

T'neet we were lucky to be able to sit and have a chat with Spenser Birtwistle about his two stints on the TMF drum stool.
The lad has seen a fair bit of the world! What a journey!! From Jangle Pop Peel gems, to creating "the first indie dance record", losing a guitarist to the Smiths, taping up Hooky's drum machine, writing a top ten for Black Grape, Sacking Craig Leon, Rob Gretton supported Dub excursions, Wembley with the Roses, Twisted Nerve, that ill-fated Tucson Corkscrew and 911!!! Heck of a chat with a heck of a chap!
Heads will Roll!!!

T'night our commitment to actually having some sort of Fall showdown continues to be questioned we spend an hour or so with Ex-Fall (aren't they all at this point) drummer, Mr Mike Leigh. You know who is. We chat about his cabaret days, somersault myths, the madness of writing with The Fall, those Dragnet production choices....and what came next—post-Fall, post-punk, and back to the cabaret world. A proper good natter with plenty of stories and laughs along the way!
T'neet yet another entirely necessary detour from the main competition. Yet again we are in the MES solo/collaborations bracket. This fourth and final set of songs means that we have finally listed to every Fall and MES track out there (probably!). This episode features more stuff form Panda, Pander, Panzer & Post Nearly Man, lashings of Von Sudenfed, some Inspirals, Elastica, Tackhead, Edwyn Collins, Ghost Digital and a dash of Blaney. Enjoy!!

Used to be one time it as all Nukey Boars and Muscle Hedonist Vanity..but T'neet', buckle up Fallsters as me, Al and Dannyno take on the wonderful P. Hanley book "Have a Bleedin' Guess", his deep delve into the murky world of TMF circa 1982.
It's a thoroughly enjoyable read and uncovers the whole Hex shebang. If you havn't read it yet, get th ebook here https://www.route-online.com/all-books/have-a-bleedin-guess and then critique our obligatory cosmopolitan music viewpoint!
T'neet!!
