Is “Masculinity” inherently harmful? The American Psychological Association sure seems to think so. In their newly released study "Guidelines for Psychological Practice With Boys and Men” the APA outlines how masculinity in boys and men, as a whole, is harmful to society. They subsequently offer a methodology on how to combat it’s supposed harmfulness in the practice of psychology.
We will give analysis as to why masculinity in boys and men is in fact, not inherently harmful, but instead is a pivotal social tool with the true purpose of benefitting both individuals and society at large. Also, we will examine how there is not an over-abundance of masculine men in society today, but instead a severe lack of them, and how this cultural trend actually causes the real harm. Finally, we will prescribe advice to listeners how they can positively embody, embrace and promote male masculinity.
