Living Oasis Ministries

Elijah offers a unique perspective on the nature of Islam. He was born and raised as a Muslim in Iraq, but converted to Christianity and started Living Oasis Ministries, an organization devoted to teaching American churches about Islam and the best means for reaching out to Muslims with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Living Oasis Ministries is called to equip the saints in the U.S. and around the world to reach Muslims for Christ, to proclaim the Word of God to those who do not know Him through preaching and teaching the Word of God, and to help the global Church challenge Islam with the gospel through apologetics.

Sharing the gospel in foreign lands has always been difficult, but these days there are challenges that are making the task increasingly difficult and dangerous.  Radical Islam has been emboldened by ruthless leaders and a media willfully silent on its evil actions. Even within missionary circles there seems to be confusion on how best to share the gospel, making the task all the more difficult.

Elijah Abraham of Living Oasis Ministries regularly travels around the world sharing the gospel and teaching church leaders to equip their church members in sound doctrine for the work of evangelism and discipleship.  He joins Mike and David to discuss the increasingly difficult challenges of missionary work, and how some mission ministries are making the task even more difficult by preaching a watered-down or even false gospel.

President Trump is unveiling his “Deal of the Century,” aimed at bringing peace between Israel and her enemies, and many in the Christian community are watching to see if it is eventually accepted and implemented.  But before we get the cart before the horse, let’s take a look at the practicality of the plan being acceptable to all parties concerned. And remember, even if a peace plan is eventually signed that doesn’t mean it is the peace treaty Daniel prophesies. There have been others before this.

As American Christianity generally bends over backwards to be seen as “loving” to the world, we have seen secular culture extend its influence within the church.  From the social justice movement to the powerful LGBTQ lobby, we see more and more churches accommodating things of this world directly contradictory to the Bible.  And now, with another presidential election on the horizon we are seeing an enhanced push for the church to embrace something that is directly opposed to the Bible: Marxist Socialism.

Mike and David look at the growth of socialist ideals within professing Christianity and why this is ominous and dangerous to the church.

Marxism is, at heart, an atheistic philosophy with no room for belief in God.

The purported goal of Marxism is a government-run utopia in which the needs of each individual are always provided for. Ideally, the strong work hard, the inventive create technological marvels, the doctors heal, the artists delight the community with beauty, and anyone who is weak or poor or in need can draw on society’s combined resources as their needs demand. When this idealistic model is attempted in the real world, it is called “socialism,” “communism,” “statism,” “liberalism,” or “progressivism,” depending on the degree to which the model is explored and implemented.

Thus far, Marxism has never worked in real life—and, without exception, in the places where Marxism has been the governmental model, Christians have been persecuted. That’s because there’s a foundational difference between Marxism and Christianity, a deep divide that cannot be bridged. There are several aspects of Marxism, as a philosophy, that put it at odds with the Christian faith.

…When Frederick Engels heard that some Christians were using Acts 2 to promote socialism, he wrote against melding his philosophy with Christianity: “These good people are not the best Christians, although they style themselves so; because if they were, they would know the bible better, and find that, if some few passages of the bible may be favourable to Communism, the general spirit of its doctrines is, nevertheless, totally opposed to it.”

In short, the Bible promotes freedom and personal responsibility, and neither of those concepts lasts long under Marxism. There’s a reason why, in Marxist states such as Communist China and Vietnam and the old Soviet Union, Christians are always persecuted—the ideas espoused by Marxism are antithetical to the teachings of Jesus Christ. The differences are irreconciliable.

In what we call the Great Commission, Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and teach them everything He commanded. Doctrine (‘doctrina,’ Lat.) simply means “teaching.” In Acts chapter 2, the foundation of the early church was the teaching of those apostles. Without a solid foundation of accurate biblical doctrine, a church becomes more like a social club.

But doctrine has almost become a bad word in a growing number of churches, as if doctrine is automatically “divisive” and “unloving.”  In reality, biblical doctrine is the foundation for Christian unity and love. Pastor Randy White joins Mike and David to discuss the importance of sound biblical doctrine.

Democrats seem intent on getting rid of President Trump regardless of the cost, tensions in the Middle East are ratcheting up, and Americans have never been more anxious.  Our leaders are unable to set aside their lust for power long enough to address the growing crisis in our nation including the level of political angst and anger.  And we have a Christian Church that seems to be dividing right down the same ideological and political lines.

The student of Biblical Prophecy is not surprised at these events, but it does challenge us on how to live as Christians in a decaying culture and world that is aligning itself behind the coming Anti-Christ who will directly oppose God.

We start with a promise from Jesus: the gates of hell will not prevail against His true church.  But there has been compromise and complacency as well as enormous challenges facing the professing church in America. We’re seeing a decline in many denominations and church attendance, the growing influence of secular humanism within many churches, and the increasing threat of discrimination and eventual persecution.

Paul says in Romans 8:37 that we are more than conquerors through Jesus, but we seem to be raising the white flag of spiritual and cultural surrender.  Could that be because we are conforming to this world and changing the eternal message of the gospel to fit our human understanding and prejudices?

Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear suggested recently that Christians who support President Trump might be “winking at sin” to promote their political agenda.  As expected he is receiving some push back for his statement. What did he mean? And how about liberal Democrat Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand claiming that protecting babies in the womb (being pro-life) is not the Christian thing to do!
