Today's episode is with Sean McQuillan. Sean is the co-founder of Families in Film, a member of IATSE 891, and the Indigenous Co-Chair for the BC Federation of Labour. Today's conversation features a little bit about Sean and his background in the industry as a performer, then as Set Dec with IATSE 891, and now as the Indigenous Co-Chair for the BC Federation of Labour and the founder of Families in Film. We discuss the Families in Film and WIFT research project which found out hard data on just how women receive differential job treatment once they begin family planning and throughout parenthood, why Sean promotes on-set childcare and proximity to safe, affordable, and flexible childcare, and some of the things he'd like to see for the future of the film industry.
