As you go through life there are different times when you may be judged; it could be a school report, a job interview, or it could be when you meet someone for the first time. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy explains that as a Christian, God will judge you, but He will do so as a loving father, not in a way to condemn you but to correct and encourage you. Once you have accepted Jesus by faith, God stops being just a judge handing out justice, He becomes a father who loves you.
60 years. A lot can happen in 60 years. I’ve got my whole life ahead of me… what?! Now there are only 45 years left? Oh well, that’s still plenty of… wait – how did I get to walking my daughter down the aisle? Yesterday, she was just a little girl… it’s been 30 years?! I guess that explains this little one sitting in my lap. Time flies doesn’t it? Today, Pastor Jimmy teaches that you often have less time than you think. If you’ve been putting off Jesus… come to Him today. Whatever you need to do, do it today.
What is your most prized possession? Maybe it’s your laptop. Perhaps it’s the box of old photos tucked away in the attic. Or maybe it’s a boat. As humans, it’s incredibly easy to get attached to certain things we can see and touch. That doesn’t make owning possessions wrong, but in today’s message, Pastor Jimmy teaches that you shouldn’t let your possessions become your god. Everything will turn to dust one day, and you will stand before the one true God. Don’t let Him see you as a stranger.
The only difference between Christians and the lost is that Christians have accepted their need for help and placed their faith in Jesus. It all comes down to what He did for us. Our good works, talents, appearance, heritage, or whatever else we may consider to be our merits aren’t anywhere near enough to make up for the wickedness of our sin. As Pastor Jimmy will remind us in today’s message, it’s only through Jesus's work that we can be saved, not because of anything we can do or who we are.
Jesus cares deeply for the lost. Not just the ones who are Christianity adjacent – you know, the people who could fit in in their local church, but just haven’t made that personal choice to follow Jesus. He grieves every heart that rejects His invitation. From thieves to prostitutes and even terrorists and murderers, He sees His image in all of us, and He wants to restore us. As Pastor Jimmy will challenge us in today’s message, we need to look at the lost with the same compassionate heart.
Historically the Church has been responsible for some horrible things under the influence of bad leaders… but it’s also accomplished some incredible works of kindness and grace, driven by the love of Christ. Hospitals, schools, orphanages, and homeless shelters are some examples of the ways we’ve demonstrated compassion and love. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy will challenge us to live out the grace of Christ in a clear, definitive way with everyone we encounter in this world.
Prejudice and selfishness are two of the most pervasive and subtle sins that plague humanity. Every one of us have been guilty of them at some point, and likely even just in the last few minutes or hours of our lives. As Pastor Jimmy will remind us in today’s message, these two sins can’t coincide with the love of Christ in a believer’s heart. Jesus’ love will challenge the hatred and even dislike we harbor against our fellow man, and it will challenge us to open up and serve others over ourselves.
Are you listening to what God is saying to you? There is so much in this life that can drown out the voice of God. You might just have too much busyness in your life to listen, or your pain might be drowning out God’s voice. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy will challenge you to stop and listen. The struggles and distractions in your life are like thorns that choke out the good news. Don’t let your sin or the temptations of the world around you get in the way of God calling to you. He who has ears, let him hear.
What is the soil of your heart like? Is it like the hard, compact dirt of a path? When a seed lands on the path, it can’t go in. It doesn’t penetrate. You may hear the Word of God, but it doesn’t penetrate into your heart. In his message today, Pastor Jimmy will encourage you to not be like the path. Don’t have hard soil. Dig into the truth found in the Bible. Listen intently to your pastor’s teaching. Don’t let the words go in one ear and out the other. Let the soil of your heart be penetrated by the good news.
Everyone is going through some kind of problem. Whether it’s related to health, work, money, marriage, children, or relationships, we all have problems. Being a Christian doesn’t exempt you from problems. In fact, Jesus guaranteed that we’ll have problems in life. Today, Pastor Jimmy teaches that the benefit of problems is that they teach you to look to God and trust in Him. Problems can make you realize how powerless you are. Whatever you’re going through, trust in the God who is infinitely powerful.
