If Jesus is capable of healing any ailment that afflicts us, why doesn’t He? This question is challenging. The simple flat answers that “it’s not His will,” or “it’s not His timing,” are rarely satisfactory. Death and pain affect all of us, and it takes real faith to trust that God loves us and is working out His will, even in the midst of our suffering. As Pastor Jimmy will encourage us in today’s message, our God does heal and He cares about us deeply.  He is with you in your pain.  You can trust Him, and He’ll provide peace.

We’re all sinners.  It’s a condition all human beings are afflicted with. Nothing we can do can change that. We’re born into it, and its eternal consequences. If you have a hard time acknowledging that, you’ll have a hard time recognizing your need for a Savior. Today, as Pastor Jimmy continues his study in the book of Luke,  he’ll remind you that Jesus is calling each person out of sin, and into a life of discipleship.  That means He’s calling you into life with Him! His mission goes far beyond our shortsighted human ambitions.

The Church and Scripture are often accused of being exclusive and bigoted. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Jesus is for everybody. The most well-known verse for Christians and non-Christians alike is John 3:16, and it summarizes an overarching theme of the Bible as a whole. As Pastor Jimmy will remind us in today’s message, God wants everyone to come to Him - regardless of age, race, gender, nationality, ethnicity, or whatever categories they’ve lumped themselves into. 

The gospels tell the story of Jesus the Savior on earth, and much of the rest of the New Testament teaches how to live in this age in light of Jesus’ work on our behalf. The prophecies of the Bible, particularly in Daniel and Revelation but also elsewhere, show what Jesus, as Savior, is saving us to (eternal paradise) and from (eternal damnation in hell). Today, Pastor Jimmy will be explaining how Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies regarding His First Coming, and He will surely fulfill the rest regarding His Second Coming!

Our culture has made self an idol, and every form of popular media pushes this idea as healthy and vital to finding joy and living a successful life. As Pastor Jimmy will point out in today’s message, this is a well-packaged lie. It plays off of important truths - you do have worth and you are highly valued. God created you in His image and loves you deeply. But God also demonstrated through Christ that true love and joy are found in sacrificing yourself for others, not in serving yourself.

Jesus was fully human while being fully God. God created the universe, but He had subjected Himself to the weaknesses of the human body. As He faced temptation in the wilderness, His humanity was a real liability. Forty days without food, and most of us would be eating the rocks, whether we could turn them into bread or not. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy will examine this account, what it teaches us about who Jesus is, and how it can help us when we face temptation in our own lives. 

Have you ever had a particular craving for a certain type of food? I know that I have! However, in other aspects of my life, I have felt a different kind of craving, and in some instances, I’ve looked in all the wrong places. You see, we were created to worship God, and when we don’t have that connection something is missing. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy will be talking about generosity. In this, we’ll discuss how the love of money or anything of this world will never satisfy us like Jesus will. 

Have you ever thought that maybe if you could make more money you could give more and in turn be closer to God? Maybe that’s not you, but I have found myself believing that before. In today’s message, Pastor Jimmy will be talking about generosity and money. You see, it’s not about how rich or poor you are. In fact, contrary to some belief, being wealthy isn’t a bad thing! However, where our hearts are concerning our wealth is what God cares about and sees. We must not love money.  

Jesus taught that the world will know we’re His disciples because of our love. If you think about the Church as a whole today, is that what we’re known for? Our love? If you walked the street and asked people what they think of Christians, you’d likely hear a lot of things, but unfortunately, love may not be high on the list. As Pastor Jimmy continues our study around winning culture in today’s message, we’ll be led to ask, what would it look like to love each other and the world around us with the love of Christ?

Jesus is for everyone. All too often, we use the Church as a kind of filter for society. We go there expecting to see and interact with people like us - people with the same struggles and the same strengths, or the same values and stances on touchy issues. If you look at the example of Jesus, He didn’t surround Himself with like-minded people. He spent time with the lost because they needed His help. As Pastor Jimmy will challenge us in today’s message, our Churches need to align with that mission.
