  • 6. Time 2: Discipling your Teenagers

Week 6: Family Discipleship as Your Kids Grow

As our kids grow, family discipleship doesn’t become less important—it changes.

In Week 6, we talk about what it looks like to disciple teenagers and young adults by deepening the relationship, deepening their faith, giving them ownership, and expanding their community.

The goal isn’t independence from us. It’s dependence on Jesus.

We talk about having meaningful conversations, creating space for hard questions, teaching our kids how to feed themselves spiritually, giving them opportunities to lead and serve, and surrounding them with other believers who will point them toward Christ.

Because eventually, the goal is not for our kids to need us to lead them spiritually—it’s for them to know how to follow Jesus for themselves.

Follow Jesus. Lead your family. Leave a legacy.

  • 5. Time 1: Your Family Discipleship Time Right Now

In Week 5, we talk about making family discipleship a normal part of everyday family life. We explore Deuteronomy 6, the importance of creating intentional rhythms for thinking about, talking about, and living out the Gospel together, and what it looks like to make that time fun, consistent, doable, and centered on your child’s needs. Most importantly, we’re reminded that family discipleship isn’t just another task on the parenting list—it’s a privilege and a high calling God has entrusted to us.

  • 4. Modeling 3: Marriage

In Week 4, we explore how marriage can model the Gospel for our children, looking at what it means for husbands to lead with sacrificial love and humility and for wives to support with love, wisdom, and respect. We also talk about the everyday practices that strengthen a gospel-centered marriage—including repentance, encouragement, faithfulness, listening, and assuming the best—and how the way we love one another shapes what our children learn about Jesus.

  • 2. Your Personal Spiritual Disciplines Matter

In Week 2, we explore Family Discipleship Modeling and why our own relationship with Jesus is foundational to discipling our children. We talk about what it looks like to model a faith that is real—not perfect—through spiritual disciplines, intentional relationships, and the stories we live out in front of our kids. We’ll also consider how to overcome the distractions and busyness that can keep us from being intentional with the everyday discipleship opportunities already happening in our homes.
