Proverbs 3:9 tells us to "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits..." The principle of giving the first ten percent of one's income is prevalent throughout scripture, and Jesus only raised the standard of giving with His life and through His teachings. Some believers today allow fear, greed, and rebellion to keep them from giving, but those who are obedient in honoring God with their tithe become a part of reaching lost people and will experience God's blessing in their life.
