And when I reveal my holiness through you before their very eyes, says the Sovereign Lord, then the nations will know that I am the Lord. For I will gather you up from all the nations and bring you home again to your land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

Titus 2:3-5 NLTThe quiet and gentle spirit that he speaks of might escape us. The word gentle is praeos and might be better understood to us by using the word humble or having humility. The word quiet is hesychiou and doesn’t mean that she is silent, but that she is well-ordered in her life and priorities. She isn’t running around from thing to thing busily looking for the next thing to occupy or satisfy her. She has found solace in the LORD and is no longer searching or drawing attention to herself.

Matthew 6:7-13This comes during a series of things that Jesus is teaching on in this chapter:

1. Secrecy in your giving (generosity without need for recognition)
2. Prayer with belief in God and not the eloquence or length of our prayers
3. Forgiving others and the forgiveness of God
4. Fasting without making a show of it
5. Money
6. God’s Provision

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

What does Jesus’ resurrection mean? Nothing (if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus) and Everything (if you’ve made Jesus your savior). So, the determining factor is going to be you.Expectation: We are no longer a people who live in disappointment or shame. We live with the expectation of being redeemed by the blood of Jesus!Inheritance: We weren’t going to get anything. We weren’t part of God’s family and we didn’t have any claim to the things of God. Because of Jesus, we now have an equal share in the things of God. We have an inheritance! Promise: This inheritance is safe. It’s kept pure and undefiled in a place where it can never change or lose its value. It has been guaranteed by the blood of Jesus!Hope: This changes everything and fills us with hope. We are no longer a people bound to a life of destruction that will end in death. We have been given the hope of life in Jesus!You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way.[c] Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. -1 Peter 3:15-16
