Tune into this episode to explore the powerful impact of All Peoples Community Center's FamilySource and YouthSource initiatives, which aim to build a stronger, more self-reliant community in South LA. As one of the City of Los Angeles' designated FamilySource Centers, All Peoples serves as a vital "one-stop shop", offering a coordinated continuum of social and educational services under one roof.
The center employs the TwoGeneration model, aiming to move families out of poverty by simultaneously focusing on both youth academic achievement and increased adult income/financial stability. All programs have an educational component and are integrated to include the entire family, with many individuals utilizing multiple services. Annually, the center serves more than 6,600 people, including over 3,500 youth.
For youth, explore programs like the "Tomorrow's Leaders" After-School Program, serving 150 youth in grades 1 to 12 to boost academic success. The College Corner program saw 85% of participating youth successfully enter private schools, community colleges, four-year universities or vocational colleges and over 100 youth participated in college tours. We'll also highlight the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which invested $145,200 in youth wages by employing 78 youth in 2022. Programs like "Tomorrow's Leaders" helped 172 youth increase academic achievements in 2020.
For adults and families, learn how services promote financial stability and self-sufficiency. The WorkSource Center provides essential employment placement and training to 100 adults annually through a partnership with CRCD. Their VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site facilitated over $703,923 in tax refunds for families in 2019. Hear about the impact of programs like financial literacy workshops, which provided over 900 collective hours of financial education for 101 adults and youth, and how overall FamilySource services helped parents collectively increase their income by over $2.8 million. Additionally, over 2,500 individuals were served through the FamilySource Center in 2021.
Discover how All Peoples, as a top-performing FamilySource Center, provides vital resources like emergency rental relief, homeless prevention, immigration services, mental health counseling, parenting classes, and essential health education.
