Ireland's witches include Alice a four-times-married moneylender; Biddy a much-loved healer; Bridget a successful seamstress seen as a bit too high and mighty; and eight women from Islandmagee, who were accused of bewitching a young newcomer, in a trial that came to be known as Ireland's Salem.

These were incredible women that might have been seen as threatening or ahead of their time or in the case of the eight women oh Islandmagee - Women who drank, smoked and cursed and not the dainty polite lady of the day
