Siñora Chris Carbullido Bethea moved away from Guam many years ago and retired from the US military after more than 20 years of service. In 2022, she began taking free Chamoru language classes on Zoom with Dr. Michael Lujan Bevacqua for Chamoru as a way to learn more about the grammar and spelling of the language and also connect to home. 

For this May 10th, 2023 episode of Fanachu, she joined for a Fino' Chamoru episode to talk about her family and also share some of her poetry.

In 2021, Siñot Joe Taimanglo, who has been a musician for many decades, both in Guam and the states, including releasing two Chamoru language vinyl records, joined for an episode of Fanachu "Remembering the Roots of Contemporary Chamoru Music." In that episode he recalled the pioneers and icons from the 1960s and 1970s who helped build the first recording studios and also created a local music scene, where none had existed before. 

On May 3, 2023 he joined for a sequel episode for this series, which is also a "Fino' Chamoru" episode, where he discusses the Chamorro Nights at Joe and Flo's in Asan, as well as what it was like to record in the Charfauros Brothers Studios in Chalan Pågo.

From the Fanachu archives - here is the thirteenth ever episode of Fanachu, recorded and hosted by the Godfather and Founder of Fanachu - Manny Cruz way back in 2017. 

Fanachu was started by Manny Cruz through the Media Committee for Independent Guåhan and many of those early episodes were recorded either in classrooms at the University of Guam or like this episode at events that Independent Guåhan was organizing or supporting. 

This episode was recorded during Lukao Fuha 2017, the annual procession to Fouha Rock in Humåtak that marks the start of the Chamoru new year. Manny hosts and speaks to some of the participants in the Lukao about their experiences, rediscovering a sense of the sacred in Fouha Rock and also learning about whether there might be historical truth to the story of Fu'una and Puntan.

From the Fanachu archives - here is the twelfth ever episode of Fanachu, recorded and hosted by the Godfather and Founder of Fanachu - Manny Cruz way back in 2017. 

Fanachu was started by Manny Cruz through the Media Committee for Independent Guåhan and many of those early episodes were recorded either in classrooms in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building at the University of Guam.

For this episode, Manny spoke Joni Kerr and Sabina Flores Perez, community activists who were founding members of what would later become Prutehi Litekyan/Save Ritidian and today known as Prutehi Guåhan. The group was formed by a coalition of organizations, activists, families and scholars who were all seeking at the time to protect the Litekyan (Ritidian) area from becoming part of the Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) for the US military's proposed firing range. The conversation also focused on issue of indigenous rights and environmental stewardship in the Marianas.

In the early 1970s a diverse coalition on Guam formed to challenge and protest the transferring of the Sella Bay Area in southern Guam over to the US military in order to build an ammunition wharf. This coalition included educators who largely came from the US, to members of the Guam Legislature by Senator Paul Bordallo and also a group of young Chamorus who publicly protested in the name of indigenous rights and protection of land. One of those protestors was Siñora Lani Tydingco Bordallo. She joined for this episode of Fanachu to talk about her life of Chamoru activism and how she brought her sense of community advocacy into the classroom as well.

On the episode he shared his own experiences but also those of other Chamorus who have persevered in systems of discrimination and racism to excel in the ranks of the US military, higher education and business.
