What makes a good Film Adaptation?
Since 1939 when gone with the wind was adapted to a motion picture and set all sorts of history Hollywood has been adapting books into films and most recently with the success of movies like Batman Begins and the Avengers they have been bringing comics to the big screen. Part of the reason is that the stories are already developed and another is that they bring a devoted audience with them which translates into big bucks. Today we’re going to be talking about what makes a good adaptation, some of our favorites, some of our least favorite and some of our hopes.
What is the Best Adaptation you have ever seen?
Nik – Stardust, Shawshank Redemption, Jurassic Park, James Bond
Amy – The Book Thief, Hunger Games, Harry Potter
Branden – How the Grinch Stole Christmas Batman Begins / The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Wizard of Oz
Lena – To kill a mockingbird, Stranger than Fiction, And then there were none
Jeff – The Prestige, the walking dead, world war z , the martian, arkham games
Lord of the Rings, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, Coreline, Hobbit, Da Vinci Code, Sherlock
What is the Worst Adaptation you’ve ever seen?
Branden – The Cat in the Hat, Eragon, Street Fighter

Lena- Divergent, The Spectacular Now
Nik – Alice in Wonderland (johnny depp) League of Extraordinary Gentleman
