Our given name was not of our choice, but it is our truth. As time goes by and we celebrate the new years we get to be in the world, we gain full control of our lives to create the person we want to be, from our personalities to careers. As new additions were conceived into our family, parenting styles changed and with it came leniency to the childhood desires we craved. Although it was too late for us to create memories with our peers, we have the best friendships we can ask for with our siblings and cousins. During our teenage years and now being young adults, topics that we were afraid to discuss were no longer taboo. So when our childhood came to an end, so did the rules we were forced to abide too.

FANG, created by cousins Rebecca & Mukrimat, stands for “First American-Nigerian Generation”.

FANG is all about our lives as women who grew up on traditional Nigerian values in Brooklyn, NY. We accomplished the dream our parents had for us -- a college degree to live a better life than them. But what’s next?

With everything that has happened after graduation, it gave us the chance to really sit, be still and think -- what do we want to come from our lives?
