Did Prince of Swords live up to the hype after Arcana Academy Book 1 became an instant 5⭐️ read for me?
I finished Prince of Swords by Elise Kova, the second book in the Arcana Academy series, literally minutes before recording this episode and I have A LOT to say.
Book 1 gave me everything I love in romantasy: an addictive world, intriguing magic, compelling character dynamics, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to disappear into the story.
So the real question was: would book 2 live up to that experience?
My answer is complicated.
This episode starts with a spoiler-free review: whether Prince of Swords delivers on the promise of the first book, what worked for me, what didn't, my live book rating, and why I think Arcana Academy belongs in my top-tier romantasy list.
✨ In the spoiler-free section:
- Does Prince of Swords live up to the 5-star experience of Arcana Academy?
- Why the vibes of this series are still absolutely on point
- The magic system, worldbuilding and academia atmosphere
- Why Kaelis completely stole the show for me

- My live rating of Prince of Swords
- Plus, what worked and what I thought could have been better
After a clear spoiler warning, we get into the things I REALLY want to talk about THAT ENDING, Kaelis' character development, Clara and Kaelis' evolving relationship, revelations about the world, and the ending that set things up for the final book in this series.
That ending genuinely changed how I feel about where this series is going. The reveals, character developments, plot twists and final setup made the experience. Arcana Academy doesn't have to be perfect for me to want more. I love the world, I love the characters, and Book 2 left me genuinely excited to see where Book 3 takes us.
💬 Have you read Prince of Swords yet?
If you have, come talk to me in the comments. I genuinely want to know what you thought about the ending, Kaelis' arc, the world-building revelations, and where you think the series is headed next!!
If you haven't read it yet, stop before the spoiler warning and come back when you're ready.
