FanX 2019 Spring

The Dark Corner Podcast reports from both days of the Salt Lake FanX 2019 Spring Comics Convention. That is, we visit celebrity row. Also, we visit vendor and artist booths on the convention floor. Furthermore, we attend a number of panels. Finally, Brandi cohosts a panel on Star Trek: Discovery.

Panels

We begin FanX 2019 Spring by attending the Droid Builders panel. For instance, we learn how 3D printing has affected the builder community. Also, we discover how drone technology has led to building flying droids. Additionally, we attend the Garret Wang panel. Garret tells engaging stories and impersonates many of his Star Trek family members. Finally, We catch the last moments of Warwick Davis‘s panel.

Celebrity Row

On the first day, we hunt for autographs. That is, we take advantage of the lighter traffic. Within an hour, we manage to collect autographs from Garret Wang, Asher Angel and Tyler Hoechlin. On the second day, we wait hours in line for Zachary Levi. Meanwhile, Brandi struggles to get the autograph of Clark Gregg only to discover a Special Guest badge grants VIP status.

FanX 2019 Spring Convention Floor

We visit a number of artist and vendor booths. That is, we pick up some handmade soap. Also, Brandi picks up some new art and a couple of upcycled journals made from comic books. Also, we encounter Tony Todd and have a long discussion about cats. Furthermore, Brandi finds writer, Jonathan Maberry, at the Bard’s Tower. We also catch the last half of his interview.

Star Trek: Discovery Panel

Finally, Brandi hosts a panel with Hayley Stoddart and Zachary Fruhling of Trek.fm. Together, they discuss season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery. They acknowledge characters and moments, discuss story and theme, and honor specific episodes. Furthermore, they open the floor for questions and comments.
