This episode was recorded live from the STAB Theater in Sacramento as part of the first Sacramento Podcast Festival. My guest was broadcasting legend Pat Martin from 98 Rock. Pat is a hero of mine and a important part of the Sacramento music scene. He has also just had the craziest life and he tells some of his stories like being at Live Aid, his friendship with Jim Henson and more.

For my 50th episode I went big and invited one of my metal heroes on in Paul Masvidal. Paul is the vocalist and guitarist from progressive metal legends Cynic, and has just launched a solo project aptly called Masvidal. He came on to talk about the new trio of EPs for the project, the intense process behind them that included isochronic tones, the state of the world, Cynic, and lots more.

A huge inspiration and a bass god has appeared. Nick Beggs has worked with Steven Wilson, John Paul Jones, Steve Hackett, Belinda Carlisle, and many more. He came on the show to discuss the third and final (?) album Atheists and Believers from his prog trio The Mute Gods. We also talk about his storied career, playing bass (I'm a bassist, so you gotta), why he's a good little doggie, and more. Then John 5 discusses his first band and the a bars they were inexplicably allowed to play. Finally, I conclude the episode by recommending Kinkshamer.

Another guitar wizard is invading the show. This time it's Sarah Longfield! Sarah is a YouTube star and an accomplished solo artist. We discuss her new album Disparity, youtube comments, her dog Boots, and more. Casey from Astronoid discusses his first band. Bringing this episode home is a recommendation of the Vacaville California math rock band Rex Means King.

JOHN 5 YOU GUYS! John has is a legendary guitarist that has played with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, but has an insane career of collaborations and session work with folks like Ricky Martin, Rob Halford, Salt-N-Pepa, Meat Loaf, Ace Frehley, Steve Perry, and many, many more. He's about to head out on tour with his band John 5 & The Creatures and he came on to talk about that tour, how he would want to be murdered should he be murdered, crazy television from his youth, and other stuff. Later Erik Danielsson of Watain talks about his first band. Finally, I recommend one of my favorite bands, and a band I'm happy to call my friends, Journal.

While I wasted this episode by never making a Douglas Adams reference, I do finally get to welcome one of my recent favorite bands to the show in Casey Aylward (also ex-Vattnet/Vattnet Viskar) from Astronoid. Casey, whom is also ex-Vattnet/Vattnet Viskar, and I discuss Astronoid's Self-titled album (which drops February 1st), his early embarrassing bands/projects, blast beats, backlash, and more. Howard Jones from Light The Torch (also ex-Killswitch Engage) discusses his first band, sort of. I recommend Sacramento's s Endless Yawn.
