I hate things without Elsa. I hate this loss of energy. I wish I could be outside. I would like to sit about and be useless like the Bloomsbury people. Walk around in parks and do arts and crafts and talk about revolutions other people will carry out.

The empire will fall apart. I can see it in the cards, though few believe me yet. And I must decide where to stay. Where to reside more or less permanently. I cannot move about anymore. My present condition makes travel too dangerous. Even traveling to the continent is a gamble. Vibeke Nachtstahl is tempting me to come down. “Join me and my master”, she says. “You will see things differently”. “You need that”. “It will be good for you.”

Donovan torched himself one morning. Just got fed up and stayed out in the sun. I’m not there yet. I will find a way.
