Would you like to build better relationships with your customers? Think about building trust with social media. Here’s how:
1. Build strong communication skills. Think about what your customers want to hear from you. What kind of questions are they asking? Find out from your sales team, check social media or even scroll Q & A platforms like Quora. When you talk with them, use language they’ll understand. Skip the small talk and jargon.
2. Stop talking and start listening. You might think you know what your customers want, but their needs are always changing. Check your data for insight into common concerns, pain points, their goals and interests. Apps like Sprout Social and Hootsuite Insights can tell you what customers are saying about you and your competition. Are you listening?
3. Be authentic and share your story. Produce content that highlights your values and brings attention to what makes your company special. Offer useful information like how-to guides and product demonstrations. Don’t make it always about selling, especially now. Helping is the new selling.
4. Create relationships with your customers. Give them an excellent on-site experience, but don’t ignore them after they’ve make a purchase. Follow up with offers tailor-made for them. What would they like? Look for suggestions based on their previous purchases and buying history.
5. Share happy feedback. Every time you earn a five-star review or get a message from a delighted customer, sing it from the rooftops. Re-share tweets, blogs, pictures and other content that your customers post. Let them become advocates for your brand. It’s the best kind of promotion and referral marketing out there.

Besides offering a newsletter or some other kind of legal bribe, what are some other ways to collect someone’s email address?
We all want a robust mailing list. So how do we collect emails?
1. Incorporate a squeeze page. Think of it like a preview page. Show just enough of premium content to whet their appetite but require an email address before they can read it all. Squeeze pages work really well when your primary source of traffic is organic.
2. Capture sidebars are another way to grab emails. These are forms built into the main landing page as sidebars promoting a free offer. The drawback is that sometimes prospects will just take the free offer and pass on buying your product or service.
3. Add a pop-under. Pop-unders are like pop-ups but only appear when a prospect leaves your landing page without buying. “Don’t go yet, you haven’t signed up for your free gift.” Unfortunately, pop-up blocking software will also block pop-unders. So they may or may not work.
4. Create a floater. Ever visit a page and a sign-up window is hovering in front of what you wanted to see? That’s a floater. Fill in the requested information and it disappears. Pop-up blocking software doesn’t hide it, but Google doesn’t like it. If you use floaters there’ always a chance it could hurt your organic search results.

Looking for some underrated content marketing strategy ideas? Take a listen.
1. Use infographics to present complex content. Visual content is more engaging than text, can be fun and still offers information in a simple format. It also takes less time to look at than reading a full report.
2. Interview industry thought leaders. This is a great way to grow your audience and get recognized as an expert in another expert community. When you’re ready to go live, don’t forget to tag him or her when you post and share on social media.
3. Invest in videos and apps. If you’re creating content, think about different ways to reach your audience. Video Q & As, product demonstrations, and explainer videos are popular. Apps like WhatsApp Business can also help you provide customer support on a more personal level by being able to sort and quickly respond to messages.
4. Virtual presentations build a list and connections. Webinars are easier and a lot cheaper than planning a conference and with all the Zoom experience you have, you might already be a pro. A “one-time-only” event gives customers more of an incentive to attend so they’re not the last to know — and we know all about that with FOMO.
5. Use SEO to drive better marketing decisions. Besides building traffic, you can organize keywords by interest level, find your competition, and create networking opportunities. Use the data to create more personalized content for the customer and check your metrics to make sure your campaigns stay relevant and on-point.

Looking for a new job in this crazy time? Here are 3 easy pointers.
1. Do your homework beforehand. It seems obvious but you’d be surprised by how many people don’t do this. Start with the company’s website and then do a broader Google search. Look for recent articles in industry publications. Let them know you did your research to learn about the company and its challenges.
2. Zero in on the company’s culture. Check out their social media pages and watch a few videos. Read company reviews on Glassdoor. Use that intel and offer strong examples of why you want to work there. “It’s close to my house” won’t cut it. A better answer is, “You work with some really cool clients.” Key in on what really interests and excites you and show enthusiasm for wanting to be part of the team.
3. Dress for success even if your interview is virtual. And pull it all together as far as your mindset is concerned too, even if you’re wearing a shirt on top of sweatpants. Sure they can’t see ‘below the fold’ but it will make you feel more poised and prepared to win the interview.
It’s a given also, send a thank-you letter. It can be the key to getting a job offer. Besides reinforcing that you really want the job, it also gives you an opportunity to overcome objections and restate how your skills and experience can make significant contributions.
