  • Praying Like Jesus
The sermon examines the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6, emphasizing that Jesus provided a model for prayer rather than a rigid script to be memorized and recited mechanically. It distinguishes between thanking God for His actions and praising Him for His character, while highlighting submission to divine will as a core component of spiritual communication. The preacher introduces the ACTS acronym—Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication—as a practical framework for structuring personal prayers. Additionally, the message addresses the practice of fasting, warning against performative piety and encouraging sincere, private devotion to seek God's guidance during difficult times. Ultimately, the teaching calls believers to cultivate authentic humility, forgiveness, and dependence on God in their daily spiritual lives.

  • The Maintenance of Good Works (sermon 2042)
This is Spurgeon at his most heartfelt, delighting in grace and urging to holiness. Taking quite a substantial text, and holding fast to its substance and arrangement, he brings us face to face first of all with what we are by nature, what we once were in the evils of our minds, our pursuits, and our hearts. Here he urges us to tears of repentance as he ploughs up our souls. Then he considers what the Lord has done for us, ranging over the wonderful declarations of grace contained in the text, and stirring us up to grateful joy, considering not least the merciful works of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit toward us. Then he brings us to the practical punch, that we should be careful to maintain good works. Here he robustly dismisses any suggestion that this is mere legalistic preaching, making clear that to the unbeliever he calls not to good works, but to Christ only. The exhortation to live as a cheerful servant goes not to the slave but to the son, to those who have been redeemed by grace. Inaction here, careless or passive living, brings dishonour to the Lord who has saved us, and so we must embrace this "faithful saying," and show by our good fruit the sweetness of our new root.

  • The Books That Prove the New Apostolic Reformation Exists
Some defenders of the New Apostolic Reformation deny that it exists or argue that it cannot be identified because it is not a formal organization. However, books written and endorsed by the movement's own leaders openly describe the restoration of modern apostles and prophets, apostolic networks, apostolic centers, dominion theology, and the Seven Mountain Mandate. In this episode of From NAR to Christ, Dawn Hill examines published evidence from C. Peter Wagner and other influential NAR leaders. Their writings demonstrate that the New Apostolic Reformation is a recognizable movement with shared teachings concerning church government, spiritual authority, prophecy, cultural transformation, and modern apostles. Dawn concludes with a plea for Christians to test every teaching according to Scripture, return to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and trust the written Word of God as the final authority for faith and life. • My sin caused your storm
Jonah 1:1-7 (KJV) Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. 3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. 4 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. 5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. 6 So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. 7 And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. Jonah 1:12 (KJV) And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.
