ACTION ALERT: Yellowstone National Park has again chosen to ignore non-motorized uses in its next round of Winter use management. Please comment by FRIDAY AUG 21st, and let the park know how important Winter non-motorized use is to you.

Specifically, Fat Bike access would allow a greater number of people to enjoy their National park in a safe way – part of the Park’s mission. A small test section of Fat Bike access would allow the Park to study and understand this fast growing user group. However, at this point the Park has simply said FAT BIKES WILL NOT EVEN BE CONSIDERED.

Mary Huff of the Down’s Syndrome Association of Minnesota told us about a raffle going on to support their iCan Bike Camp in the Twin Cities. The iCan Bike Camp is for individuals with a disability who want to learn to ride a two-wheel bike independently.

• Slack (69 degrees or less), low (under 12.5”) and tight (16.5-17”)

Fat Bike “Snow” Geometry

• Slack, low and tight – Hey, isn’t this the same as above?

Singletrack race geometry

• Steep (over 71 degrees), tight (16.5-17”) and high (over 12.5”)

• “Normal” XC Geometry

• Neither steep nor slack (70ish degrees), Medium length (17.25-17.5”) and medium height (12-12.25”)
