The Sackler Cartel needs to face justice! RALLY in Washington DC on 12/03/21 to plead with the DOJ to pursue the evidence they already have on the architects of the opioid epidemic - The Sackler Cartel

Join parents and loved ones from all over the country in a RALLY on Friday 12/03/21 11am near the DOJ in Washington DC to call on AG Merrick Garland and Deputy AG Lisa Monaco of the DOJ to act on the evidence they already possess and NOT to bury it as was done in 2007 to prosecute the Sacklers.

Danny Strong (HULU Dopesick show runner) will be a guest speaker along with others and Beth Macy (dopesick author) will be there. 

Recently disclosed discovery documents, as well as thousands of news articles, many books and documentaries have exposed beyond any doubt the Sackler involvement in the admitted crimes of Purdue Pharma. 

Even more damning, the highly respected Attorney General of Massachusetts, Maura Healey publicly stated the DOJ has the evidence and SHOULD bring charges against the Sacklers.

AG Healey’s specific admonishment of the DOJ’s lack of criminal prosecution of the Sackler’s is detailed in the NPR video (minute 9:30) below.

Understanding Addiction - Know Science, No Stigma... Interview with Dr. Charles Smith,  author of this most informative book ... a must-read for those struggling from the tragic effects of drugs and alcohol.. and for their families to understand the behaviors often associated with this disease of addiction. 

Dr. Smith is an expert in this field with personal, firsthand experience with the humiliation and shame that accompanies substance use disorder.  He points out that addiction is a disease .. no less so than diabetes, heart disease or hypertension... and needs to be treated as such.

Unlike most other illnesses, substance use disorder is characterized predominantly by behavior.  Stigma is our biggest killer.  It is a deterrent in combatting addiction and to get to the root of this disease.  It hinders growth and progression.

It was a fake pill made of 100% fentanyl, and he lost his life. Please be sure to educate yourselves and your kids. With the cartels targeting youth on social media, this can happen to ANYONE!" ... In the wake of losing Cal, I have been working closely with Song for Charlie to warn kids about the dangers of fentanyl and fake pills. One of my projects is to make school districts nationwide aware of this issue, and to encourage districts to take action. I am working with a grass-roots network of volunteers to reach as many districts as possible, and thought I would also share this project with my personal friend group in case anyone is interested in getting their local school district to take action.

Cal would do anything to save a friend. Since he is not here to do it himself, I have taken on this task for him. 

Please take a few minutes to educate yourself on the fentanyl epidemic. Our media, legislators, schools are all behind in warning parents and kids about this issue, and education is the best defense.

"Momma, all I want is a normal life"... Peyton was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma at age 16.  Age 19, he had a full hip replacement due to the extensive treatments that he received battling cancer.  He was prescribed pain medications to ease his excruciating pain.  This began his battle with an opioid addiction.  He died at age 23 from illicit fentanyl poisoning.

His story is unique and special... as he was as an individual.  Peyton's mother, Kelly feels strongly that transparency is so important in addressing the many issues of addiction.   With transparency,  people can develop empathy and compassion towards conquering STIGMA.

It can happen to anyone. My son was poisoned with a counterfeit Percocet that contained pure fentanyl.

We lost our amazing son, Matthew Thomas, at 20 years of age to fentanyl poisoning. He took what he thought was a Percocet and died moments later on the morning of 07/25/2020. Because of this tragic loss our family experienced, we want to do everything in our power to keep another family from suffering this way. That is why we created Matthew's Voice. 

The mission of Matthew’s Voice is to educate teens and young adults about the dangers of fentanyl poisoning specifically, and drug use in general. In addition, to provide rehabilitation scholarships for individuals who lack financial means.

To achieve this mission, we will go around to local high schools and teen organizations.  We will make this issue personal, giving teens and young adults a first hand account of the consequences that can come from drug use. We will also talk about the fentanyl epidemic, the dangers of drug use in general and the role social media plays in the availability and distribution of  various drugs. Once we are able, we will also offer scholarships to teens and young adults for treatment in drug rehab programs. 

​The sky is the limit and we have big hopes and dreams for this organization. Matthew may not be here to warn our youth of the dangers of drug use, but through Matthew's Voice, his legacy will live on and he will save lives.  We will shout to the top of the Blue Ridge Mountains and beyond to be sure Matthew's Voice is heard.

"This gets more ridiculous everyday.  And what is even more ridiculous is the complete lack of effort on the part of this administration in getting the word effectively spread.  And where are State and local Public Health agencies in doing the same.  It is their immediate responsibility to alert the public to any Public Health emergency.   

Illicit Fentanyl, it’s analogs, and the manner in which they are deceptively distributed, is one of those emergencies, and is something that is not, but needs to immediately be put in the spotlight!!"

Quoted by Steve, a retired law enforcement officer, a husband, a father, a grandfather ... who knows firsthand the evilness of Illicit Fentanyl poisoning that has infiltrated the United States and killing people in record numbers.... including his beloved daughter, Jessica who leaves behind his beautiful granddaughter who he reminds everyday that her mother loved her so much and she is loved by her grandparents ... and they are so grateful to have her in their lives.  These senseless deaths affect so many ... not only the person addicted, but, their families that loved them so much.... and leave behind.  

Illicit Fentanyl poisonings need to be treated as homicides... not, accidental overdoses.  The stigma needs to change in this country with our law enforcement investigations of these deaths and our judicial systems with prosecutions.  

The first thing I told the detective on the case was,

“I don’t want any other mommies to feel this way! I don’t want this guy to kill anyone else! Promise me you’ll get him!” 

I didn’t know Fentanyl was being sold in street drugs, on Snapchat, or in our community until Luca died. My need to warn the community (Awareness) outweighed my need for vengeance. Just so we’re clear vengeance and justice aren’t even close to each other.  In the beginning my mind was set on vengeance.  Justice will SAVE  lives, vengeance WON'T!
Fentanyl Poisoning is murder.   Most victims of Fentanyl Poisoning had no idea what was in the substance they were taking because they were told it was something else.  Counterfeit pills are becoming much more prevalent and easier for children to gain access to because of social media platforms like SNAPCHAT...
