For some inexplicable reason, threats your are directly and immediately aware of are somehow far less frightening than the nebulous unknowns. Especially, when you can also see the immediate impact of those unknowns. For some, exploring those unknowns is a source of pride, facing the dangerous, the unexpected. There are places you should not go, things you should not see. So, clearly, you are going to march right down there and watch. Which takes quite a bit of planning, an early start, and a good deal of caution. Even then, with all those unknowns planned out, it's the little things that catch you off guard.

There is a long march after every struggle, the recovery, the return to a semblance of peace. In that quest, there is a strong value in tenacity. To stay, to survive, what is often so critical is just to continue.
