The first fatal shark attack in 100 years on Perth's Swan River has prompted discussions on whether WA Fisheries should monitor the number of sharks in the Swan River.
Marine Ecologist specialising in shark behaviour and environmental interactions, Dr Johan Gustafson, told Gary Adshead tagging bull sharks is a beneficial idea due to the lack of knowledge about the species.
"Believe it or not we still don't know a large amount about them - we know broad movements and broad scale behaviours of bull sharks but not the fine details - I think it's a wonderful idea," Dr Gustafson said.
