I Belle and Sebastian sono nati a Glasgow nel 1996 ed hanno pubblicato ad oggi dodici album in studio . Sebbene costantemente lodato dalla critica, il loro “pop malinconico” ha avuto un successo commerciale relativo. Guidati dal chitarrista/cantante Stuart Murdoch , la band ha un sound intimo e maestoso che è in parti uguali folk-rock e pop anni ’60 . Murdoch ha un dono non solo per la stravaganza e il surrealismo, ma anche per dettagli lirici strani ed inquietanti ma che mantengono le canzoni ancorate ad una realtà tangibile. Ciò che è iniziato come un progetto finanziato dal governo per un gruppo di artisti con poche aspirazioni se non quella di registrare qualche canzone, è cresciuto fino a diventare in breve tempo come una delle band indie pop più durature e amate al mondo.
