Fathers are more than figures of authority—they are called to be teachers and trainers, shaping the hearts and minds of the next generation. Proverbs 4 opens with a heartfelt appeal from a father to his children, urging them to cherish his wisdom and guidance. These verses are not commands barked from a distance—they are the voice of a father intimately invested in his children's future. Solomon, who penned these words, learned wisdom at the feet of his father, King David. David didn’t just hand Solomon a throne—he passed on a legacy of worship, obedience, and reverence for God. Solomon, in turn, urges his own sons to hold tightly to the truths that had shaped him. Training doesn’t happen once—it is daily, intentional, and relational. It involves more than telling our children what to do—it means showing them how to live. Teaching is about words, but training is about walking alongside, modeling faith, integrity, work ethic, and how to respond to both blessings and trials.
