What does Passover have to do with Jesus feeding the 5,000?

A LOT.

John intentionally tells us that Passover was near before Jesus performs the miracle of multiplying the bread.

When we go back to Exodus 12, we see Passover and Israel’s deliverance from Egypt.

Then in Exodus 16, Israel is hungry in the wilderness, and God gives them manna — “bread from heaven.”

Now look at John 6.

Jesus sees a hungry multitude and provides bread. Later, the people themselves bring up the manna, and Jesus declares:

“I am the bread of life.” — John 6:35

The miracle wasn’t just about feeding hungry people.

It was a sign pointing to Jesus Himself.

🍞 Passover.
🍞 The wilderness.
🍞 Manna.
🍞 Bread from heaven.
🍞 Jesus, the Bread of Life.

What if being offended by Jesus is exactly what you need?

Genuine Christianity isn’t always comfortable. Jesus said things that challenged people, confronted sin, and caused many to walk away—including in John 6.

The Gospel is offensive because it confronts our pride, our desires, our comfort, and our idea of how life should go. But Jesus never promised us the easy path. He called us to the narrow path.

The question is: Will you reject the truth because it offends you, or will you allow the truth to transform you?
