In this session, Ustaadh Moosaa Richardson reads some of the
fataawaa (religious verdicts) of the great scholar,
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (may Allah have Mercy on him), on the topic of the six days of optional fasting in the month of Shawwaal. We read directly from the book,
Fataawaa Noor 'Alad-Darb (volume 7, pp.352-355). This is a collection of transcribed questions and answers from live radio programs in Saudi Arabia.
The following is a summary of the five questions answered in this session:
- What is the wisdom behind fasting the six days of Shawwaal?
- Do we have to continue this fast every year if we start it?
- If someone fasts three or five days, will he get any reward?
- Are the six days fasted consecutively or can they be separated?
- Which is better - Fasting them consecutively or separated?
