Fave Five From Fans

Christmas is a wonderful time for family, friends, and memories. For this special episode, I've asked several of the above to share some of their favorite Christmas stories, memories, traditions, and foods with me. And if you hang around until the end, I've recorded a special reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. I hope you enjoy it!

It’s Christmas time, and I’ve invited my spouse, the mother of my children, and returning guest Tina Ray to the Plastic Microphone Studios to discuss our Fave Five 21st Century Christmas Songs. Tina is a HUGE Christmas fan, putting up the tree on the night of Thanksgiving and celebrating all month long. And, well, by Louisiana Shared Property laws, she owns half of the Studio. And Pickles that cat drops in, too.

How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth? From the pen of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to the lips of Sherlock Holmes, these words are as true today as they were then. I have invited Kathy Bright (@AUKathy2418) of “The LBC Irregulars: A Sherlock Holmes Podcast” as heard on the Longbox Crusade Network (@longboxcrusade) to discuss our Five Favorite Sherlock Holmes Portrayals. Kathy is California-born but Alabama-raised, and an Auburn grad who loves sports, movies, TV, music, and all things pop culture (especially if it’s from the 80’s)!

George Romero is widely regarded as the father of modern zombie films, and his films Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1978), and Day of the Dead (1985) are considered classics of the genre. Romero's films are known for their social commentary and their realistic portrayal of zombies.

In this episode, I have the immense pleasure of interviewing Bram Stoker finalist Mark C. Scioneaux, author of “Slipway Grey”, “The Cadaver Chronicles: The Collected Zombie Fiction of Mark C. Scioneaux”, and “Cannibal Fat Camp” to discuss Romero's impact on the zombie genre and the movies spawned by his original Trilogy. We will discuss our favorite Zombie films outside of George Romero's universe, the variation & evolution of the zombie genre, and the current state of zombie films.

The episode is informative and Mark is a knowledgeable and engaging interviewee, but we also have a ton of laughs. The one is a must-listen for fans of zombie films and George Romero.

And don’t forget about our special giveaway! DM me on Twitter @Fave5FromFans and tell me one of YOUR favorite Zombie films, Non-Romero OR Romero. Give me a little bit about why it’s your favorite, and we’ll randomly select a winner for an autographed copy of Mark’s “The Cadaver Chronicles: The Collected Zombie Fiction of Mark C. Scioneaux.”

The zombie genre has evolved significantly since Romero's original films. Early zombie films were often low-budget and gory, but they were also very serious in tone. More recent zombie films have taken a more lighthearted approach, and they often feature elements of comedy, action, and horror.

The current state of zombie films is very healthy. There are a number of great zombie films being made every year, and the genre continues to evolve and grow.
