After Paul and Barnabas return to Antioch from their journey, the entire church meets in a large home for a meal and to hear the stories of what God had done on their amazing adventure. Peter was among the diverse crowd of Christians gathered there.

When Christian Pharisees showed up, they were appalled by the mixing of Jew and Gentile and rebuked Peter for participating in such an 'unclean act.' Peter and even Barnabas take a step back and stop eating with Gentiles, drawing a public rebuke from Paul to Peter at the next Agape Meal.

Paul reminds Peter that only Jesus makes one clean. Through Jesus, GOD fulfilled ALL cleansing required in the Law of Moses. Peter then repents and asks for forgiveness from the church.

After preaching in Derbe, Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch to strengthen the disciples and encourage them to remain true to the faith. True discipleship requires true investment. We need to be pouring into other believers.

Today, we look into chapter 19 in 1 Kings. Having confronted the evil king Ahab and putting the prophets of Baal to the sword after having God prove to all the people His absolute power, Elijah goes into hiding from the evil queen Jezebel, whom he was terrified of. Elijah still needs encouragement of God's provisions despite all this.

When Paul heals a lame man in the pagan city of Lystra, both he and Barnabas are proclaimed by the people there to be Greek gods; chaos ensues. Pastor Jason expounds upon the importance of this story.

The presence of shepherds is a major thread in the biblical narrative, particularly the awaiting the arrival of the one true, good shepherd. What is the true nature of sheep? What is the true nature of shepherds, and what is their job description?
