Doubt seems as common to the Christian life as faith. Often we bear the deep burdens of doubt thinking they are stumbling blocks to our santification. Yet, perhaps it is not antithetical to the pathway of faith. Perhaps, by God's gracious plans, it can be a blessing. Evil is a reality of this world. Yet so is the shalom (peace) from the presence of God's kingdom. There are many responses that we, as Christians, can have towards evil. Ignoring it is not one. Join us as we continue to read through Acts and let us reflect together on how God's peace can change the course of evil around us.

Pastor Neil kicks off our new series in Acts entitled ACTS OF SHALOM. Shalom is described in the bible as much more than just peace, but also fullness, wholeness, perfection. God's kingdom is a kingdom of shalom. Whereever this kingdom spreads shalom springs forth. We will journey through Acts seeing shalom blossom as the apostles move the Kingdom of God from Jerusalem, to Judea, to the end of the earth.

Our expectations of the present based on the future. But the present state of the world and our country can lead us to a deep feeling of fear in what lies ahead. The reality of the resurrection will lead us to another conclusion about the future, however. In the long-term we know that things will be okay, not just okay but "Resurrection OK". In the short-term resurrection provides us with a pattern for living.

It is a travesty to be forgotten, our wisdom lost and all of the help we have offered not remembered. But that is a reality in life. We will not be recognized like we feel we ought to be. Yet we should pursue wisdom and helpfulness for the inherent value of both, without the need to be recognized. If we only pursue them for being recognized, we will be disappointed.
