Word for the Week - July 2, 2017

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:15-16 (HCSB)

VBS 2017. It has come and gone. What a crazy, emotional, and fun week! I’m not sure why I love VBS as much as I do. It might be because it was such a big part of my childhood (My mom was VBS director each year.), or it might be because we did VBS the week of my birthday every year! What I do know is that I remember VBS. I remember the stories, the things I learned, and the fun I had!

The very first child I had the opportunity to lead to Christ was at VBS the summer I turned 18! That summer I did 14 Vacation Bible Schools. Sometimes 2 times a day! I fell in love with VBS and wanted to do it again and again! This year at VBS I had the occasion to talk with 2 girls and pray with them as they invited Jesus to be the boss of their life. They were not the only 2. We had a total of 7 kids asked Jesus into their life! That life changing experience is why we do VBS! It makes all the long days and nights worth it!

Thank you for giving your time and support so that we could have a wonderful week! I laugh when people say things like “I just did _______ in VBS this week” because you don’t “Just” do in Bible school. You are planting seeds and changing lives! A child might not accept Christ this week, but they have heard the gospel. Why? Because you served. Because we are a team . . . everyone helping and serving together makes VBS possible. You might not have been in the room with me while I talked to kids, but because of your work, it was possible for them to be here and hear the gospel! We serve an awesome God, and He moved in the lives of kids this week! Thank you for making VBS 2017 AMAZING!
