The priests failed to honor God's Name and reverence Him. Therefore, God, in two-fold fashion: brings Humiliation upon the priests and thereby, causes His name to be reverenced "among the nations" (1:14) and second, gives the priests hope of returning to their station so that we may have hope when the Lord punishes us that there is covenant hope for restoration to ministry that honors his Name. 

Malachi 2:1-9  

The Priests of Israel together with the people, argue against God's declaration that they are despising God's Name. Yet, God brings evidence of their dishonor and irreverence describing their Inauthentic Offerings which despise His Name so that we may test ourselves to determine if we are genuinely honoring God's Name ourselves.

Israel seemed to be in a state of revival under King Josiah before the Captivity and again Ezra & Nehemiah after their release from captivity. Both "revivals" proved false. In like manner in America, we have labeled movements "revivals" yet they proved the opposite. Today we are given a solemn warning similar to that which Malachi delivered so that we may be wise in determining whether the USA is experiencing a revival or Not!

God stopped speaking to Israel after Malachi the Prophet spoke "Last Words" over them. Today, we will review four facts of Israel's history that signaled this time of "silence" from their God.
