Welcome back to the Family Room Conversations!
Recently our news feeds have been full of heartbreaking stories. Too many of these stories are close to home, but the vast majority center around people we may never meet. One of the more recent tragic stories has been developing in Afghanistan over the past several week, and in the context of the thousands of other heartbreaking stories, we’re brought to an interesting question: how does God expect us to respond?
Are we supposed to be heart-broken, or should we be saving that emotional energy for people God has placed us closer to? If we are heartbroken, what can we do? And if we aren’t, what should we be praying for?
Here’s a link to the book we mentioned about the Syrian refugee family. It was a tremendous help to the wood family in opening our eyes to the modern day reality of these peoples’ struggles. https://www.amazon.com/Butterfly-Refugee-Olympian-Rescue-Triumph-ebook/dp/B076ZX1QQ4/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1629823385&sr=8-1
