A Christian's greatest temptation when faced with a person undergoing suffering is to lead with truth. How convicting it is to find that Jesus--when faced with the same scenario--led with compassion. A human's greatest temptation when facing suffering is to try and overcome within their own power. How reassuring it is that the person of Jesus Christ is our answer and our hope.

Jesus' values often conflict with the values of this world. This is possibly expressed more in His call for us to become like little children than in any other area. In this day and age of self-worship, self-effort, and self-sufficiency, the high standard of childlikeness is not just unique, but valuable.

This is the opening of our series called "Pursuing Jesus" where the goal is to learn more about the person of Jesus Christ. We will specifically look at characteristics of Christ that made Him different from anyone who ever lived. In part one, we take a look at how others-focused Christ was, and how far short we fall of that standard.

As human beings, we get used to everything. The 20th time we experience something, it doesn't excite us the same way as the first. Jesus spoke a warning to His followers about that same temptation flaring up in our relationship with God. The truth is, the longer we are Christians the more tempted we will be to get used to God. This message attempts to highlight that possibility, and reverse it if need be.

The public perception of the followers of Jesus Christ is incredibly poor. And unfortunately, it's poor for all the wrong reasons. In this message we take a look at what Jesus said that His followers should be known for and defined by.

During our Student Life Celebration, we took a look back at the theme of this year's camp: Devoted. And we took the opportunity to ask each of us the question: What really are we devoted to? And to whom else would we ever go to find something worth being devoted to than Jesus Christ?
