This fear can manifest in the long term (“I don’t want to end up alone”) or the short term (trying to always be in contact with other people to avoid solitude). But they are related, because the in-the-moment frenzy for “connection” is often motivated by a longer-term fear.
Many single people fear that they will never get married and/or have kids.
Often the immediate fear of loneliness leads to massive social media usage, or the need to always be texting, phone calling, distracting oneself from the fact of being alone.
