Our text mentions the 'seed' of Abraham which recounts the promises given to Abraham that he would have many descendants. This seed is spiritual not simply biological. Many of Abraham's descendants did not have saving faith. Then the important topic of Jesus as our great High Priest is introduced which is a key theme in Hebrews. Because of His suffering, He is merciful and able to "take hold of" His own to bring them to Himself. This includes propitiation which implies averting God's wrath and receiving cleansing from sin. He comes to our aid and gives access to the throne of grace where can find grace and help.
