We jumped into Love Flops at the recommendation of Jeb and at first we thought it was going to just be a standard harem show with some comedy which was true for the first half of the series but then it takes a hard pivot to VR Escapism because of grief coupled with AI trying to “learn love.” We talked about the intentional time leaps as well as how time passed vs how it appeared to have passed, and how each girl basically feels like they used a different “training dataset” for what love might look like.

“Am I Actually the Strongest?” follows Haruto, a 30-something shut-in that gets reincarnated with an absurd power that always reads “level 2, no element,” so as a baby he gets ditched in a forest who then is adopted almost immediately. When that happens he decides it is best to hide who he is so that he can  chase the quietest life possible  but instead he becomes the hero of justice. He is forced to keep up appearances to keep his little sister Char from outing him to his parents and he also gets mistaken for being a demon lord as well by demons thanks to his overwhelming aura, he also solves problems with ancient magic where is the limit is literally his imagination, so he makes literal clones, surveillance, and even jury-rigged internet back to his old world. The show leans hard on familiar OP-isekai tropes and comedy, with bits like a giant golem’s sudden confession, but under uses the goddess that plays little more than an info dump. Pacing is lightning fast across just 12 episodes, fun to binge but so quickly that Jack rewatched the ending wondering if he missed something. Character growth is minimal, and a lot is fed to you on a silver platter, making it an easy “junk-food” watch. Overall this is a light, funny palette cleanser that’s enjoyable but shallow as it has a thin story and unresolved plot.

The Executioner and Her Way of Life is an interesting take on the Isekai genre. And while it starts out like a number of other ones. Where someone is summoned to another world and thus their journey begins. However in this world people are summoned all the time and always from Japan. And that is what truly sets this apart is that they are not summoned to that world for a noble reason and you get to see the side after the effects of that and how that world has changed from the summoning of people to their world . Which made this show great for us. Not only does it take that approach but it also does its own take on magic and time travel. And this one was honestly one that we enjoyed. The character development is solid and the story made us wish that there was a second season.

This week we are talking about Aharen is Indecipherable Season 2. And picks up right where Season 1 leaves off, with Raido and Aharen officially a couple heading into their second year of high school. And it keeps the same slow-burn romance but then things start to open up with new faces and they also give more time to the side characters that also shed some light on Aharen's past. The show mainly stays on point but they started to pick up pace and started to time skip to cap it all off with a major time skip to land an “actual ending”.

This week we are talking about Aharen is Indecipherable Season 1 as recommended by Jeb. And it is a show that is certainly a slow burn to say the least. And by that we mean if you go by the 3 episode rule for anime then you will certainly pass this one by as it takes about 5 episodes to really grab you. That is not to say that those first few episodes are not entertaining in their own way, just that they are not enough to grab you so that you watch the whole season. But once you get past that you do find the series enjoyable but even still in the podcast we can’t help but get off track and go off on some tangents mainly because the show while it did have content it just was not very wide or deep. It was all very surface level.

This week we are talking about By the Grave of Gods Season 2 as recommended by Jeb. And this week it was a nice revisit for us and a break for what we have been watching. The show overall was solid and picked up right where season 1 left off so if you are watching the series all together at the same time. That being said the story was pretty straight forward no surprises or anything like that but we did have some questions that we know we will never get answers to but still it was fun to think about. All in all though we found the story solid enough but it was not without its flaws but even with that they are not that big and can be overlooked.

This week are talking about Akudama Drive and honestly for us it was not that great of a show. It was not horrible but it also was not great. This anime follows a group of criminals that all literally named after what their crime or specialty is, like Courier, Brawler, Doctor, Hacker. Each character has a unique design and video game-like feel which is not to surprising since one of the creators worked for a game company. But one of the major downsides for us aside from the pacing was how predictable everything was. We also dig into the weird pacing issues, the over-the-top gore that felt gratuitous with the amount of censorship there was as well. Basically it was watchable but forgettable, especially if you're hoping for something engaging.

This week we are talking about Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess which was a recommendation from Shut In Jeb. And it was an interesting choice. The anime overall was enjoyable for both of us. But at the same time there were several questions that we had for most of the show that we watched and it was not something that we could look over. We dive into things that are not fully explained by the anime and it left Jack with a bad taste in his mouth. And for Rick there were somethings that he could not get past. But it is one that we would recommend. All in all this is a show that is still worth a watch.

This week we are talking about Anime-Gataris which was a recommendation from Major Montana. Was in so many words a love story to the fans of Anime. It hits all the thoughts and lingo that we usually use as well as habits that we use as well when it comes to anime. They in essence called us all out and at the same time broke the 4th wall all to have fun. That being said it was not without it's drawback and they were there for sure. With a shallow story and no real character development this story is purely here for fun and nothing more.

This week we are talking about Temple which was a recommendation from Jeb. It was a chaotic ride that also was a fan service heavy show. We dove into Akemitsu’s painful attempts to stay pure while surrounded by anime’s worst temptations, plus the sheer craziness of his dad racking up a 20 million yen debt just so he can try and get a global harem. In the end it was an anime that we laughed at, but because of the chaos we ended rewinding way more than usual just to catch what the hell was happening.
