The Black Sea grain initiative established last summer has been crucial in tackling the global food crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine. But this week Russia said if its demands are not met, it sees no prospect for extending the deal beyond the middle of July. Ukraine is a major grain exporter, accounting for 10% of the world's supply of wheat, 15% of the corn market, and 13% of world barley.
